When starting a
diesel generator to charge the battery, the following precautions should be taken:
1. Connect the positive and negative poles: During charging, the positive and negative poles of the diesel generator battery should be connected to the positive and negative poles of the charger respectively, ensuring that the connection wire is firm and preventing virtual connection.
2. Electrolyte temperature: During the charging process, the electrolyte temperature should not exceed 48 ℃, otherwise cooling measures such as reducing current and increasing ventilation should be taken.
3. Charging method: Constant current or voltage limiting method is used for charging to ensure charging effectiveness and safety.
4. Protective equipment: Workers should wear protective equipment while working to prevent acid splashes from injuring people.
5. Container selection: Electrolyte containers should be made of porcelain or large glass bottles, and the use of metal containers such as iron, copper, zinc, etc. is prohibited to prevent explosions.
6. Ventilation conditions: The charging room should be well ventilated, and electrolyte should not be spilled or leaked on the ground. The electrolyte on the battery rack should be washed clean at all times.
7. Check breathability: Regularly check the breathability of the shell cover to prevent damage to the battery casing caused by the blockage of air holes and the increase in internal pressure of the battery.
8. Avoid short circuits: It is not allowed to use short circuits to check the voltage of the battery in the charging room to prevent sparks from causing accidents.
9. Environment selection: Do not charge in an environment that cannot block wind and snow, and do not place the charger near water.
10. Electrolyte injection: When charging the battery for the first time, it should be noted that the continuous charging time should not exceed 4 hours. Charging for too long can damage the battery's service life.
By following the above precautions, it is possible to effectively ensure the safe charging of the starting battery of the diesel generator and extend its service life.
